Sexual health is an important part of overall well-being. But too often, embarrassment and shame result in silence that leads to unnecessary suffering.

Sexual health is an important part of overall well-being. But too often, embarrassment and shame result in silence, leading to unnecessary suffering.

Sexual dysfunction – sexual pain that causes distress or a complication in one or more of the sexual response cycles – can affect people of all genders and sexual orientations. More than 40% of adults report a problem or concern regarding sex at some point in their life.

At the Comprehensive Sexual Health Center (CSHC), a collaboration of MetroHealth and Cleveland Sex and Intimacy Counseling, we are dedicated to ensuring our patients have every chance at a healthy, happy sexual life. We take a collaborative, evidence-based approach to diagnosing, treating, educating and optimizing the sexual health and wellness of all people.

This approach includes work with skilled physicians/surgeons, psychologists, psychiatrists, sex therapists, nurse practitioners, pelvic floor physical therapists, nurses, researchers, pain specialists and a variety of trained support staff.

Together, we work to evaluate and treat individuals with sexual-desire, arousal, orgasm and pain challenges. As an LGBTQ+ affirming clinic, we are here for everyone.

Our goals and methods are deeply rooted in our renowned value of service to the community with a particular emphasis on equitable access to care. We envision a partnership of mutual respect with our patients, embedded in an environment that is empowering, open minded, inclusive, and as diverse as the community we seek to serve.

Combining our valued patients with our team’s drive, skill, compassion, and resources will undoubtedly lead the way to a holistically healthier community.

Our patients are reminded that healthy sex is any sexual activity that is emotionally and physically consensual by all parties, does not cause pain to anyone, unless specifically requested, and involves a positive experience that involves satisfaction, pleasure or fulfillment.

The CSHC is a safe space, where patients know their concerns will be met with openness and compassion. We know that sexual function, response and attitude are influenced by mental health, social and environmental factors, family, religion and relationship dynamics from past and current partners.

We investigate the cause of sexual dysfunction in all its forms and address the issue at its source.

Treatment focuses include but are not limited to:

Low sexual desire/libido

Sexual pain

Arousal and orgasm disorders

Erection concerns

We also care for patients exploring topics like kink affirmation and consensual non-monogamy.

Sexual health is a topic that everyone should feel comfortable discussing. At the Comprehensive Sexual Health Center, we want to ensure information and resources for a healthy sexual life are available to all. Sexual health care is health care, and we are proud to partner with you on your journey to your best self.
