Radio One personality Matty Willz recently talked with MetroHealth’s Olusegun “Dr. Ish” Ishmael, MD, MBA, about the stigma around mental health care in minority communities and how we can make it OK for people to ask for help.

In many minority communities, mental illness is viewed as a weakness or personal failing rather than a real medical condition. People may feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek help. Recognizing we all have mental health struggles at times is an important step toward breaking through these barriers.
